John Lloyd Cruz says son Elias 'saved' him

He didn't get into details but John Lloyd Cruz maintained he is still around mainly because of Elias, his son with Derek Ramsay's current girlfriend, Ellen Adarna.

He told Ceasar Soriano on Radyo Kidlat 98.3 FM, "Utang ko ang buhay ko sa anak ko! Kung wala yung anak ko, baka wala na rin ako dito (I owe my life to my son. If not for him, I may have been long gone).”

He wasn't clear why.

The actor didn't exactly say if he got sick or if things got so dire he contemplated taking his own life.

He went on, “Malaki ang papel nun sa kung bakit ako ay nandito pa ngayon, (He played a huge role in my being here).”

“Malaki ang talagang papel niya kung bakit, di ba, bumabangon ka, nagsusumikap ka. (He's one of the reasons why I keep going, pushing myself)."

John Lloyd added that becoming a father pushed him closer to God.

“Yun yata yung essence nun. Parang, there’s no other way kundi mas mapalapit ka pa (I guess that's the essence of it all. Like, there's no other but to get closer to Him)."

“Lagi na lang akong nagpapasalamat sa kung anong meron... Parang luminaw...Wala na yung mga agam-agam mo o paghahangad sa kung ano yung wala ka. Kasi mas sumimple rin naman. Ang laki ng isinimple ng lahat. Simple lang pala siya. Nagpaikot-ikot ka pa (More than anything, I'm just thankful that it opened my eyes. There's no more doubt or yearning. Things just got simpler. You've been going around in circles then you realize it was just so simple all along).”

John Lloyd recently signed with Maja Salvador's talent management agency.
