
More than 6,000 people have tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Department of Health (DOH) said on Thursday, May 20.
This pushed the country’s total number of cases since last year to 1,165,155, wherein 4.5 percent or 51,912 cases are still active.
It noted that “16 duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 11 are recoveries and one is a death.”
The DOH said that 93.1 percent of the active cases have mild symptoms, 2.1 percent are asymptomatic, two percent have severe symptoms, 1.5 percent are in critical condition, and 1.31 percent are moderate.
There were 135 more patients, however, who lost their lives. The country’s death toll stood at 19,641 with the case fatality rate at 1.69 percent.
It was also reported that 4,071 more patients were cleared from the disease, increasing the recovery tally to 1,093,602, which is 93.9 percent of the Philippines’ total case count.
