ILOILO CITY – Mayor Edgardo Arancillo of Dumarao, Capiz has been infected by COVID-19.
“While I have been careful and have been taking extra precaution, I was not spared from COVID-19,” said Arancillo in a statement confirming that he was infected.
According Arancillo, he started feeling the symptoms of COVID-19 with body aches and a runny nose last May 11. The mayor initially dismissed it, but the symptoms continued.
Last May 18, Arancillo underwent swab test and day after, May 19, results came out showing that he has the virus.
The Dumarao mayor also confirmed that he has been admitted to a private hospital for further monitoring.
Arancillo also disclosed that the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of the Dumarao local government has been rigorously conducting contact tracing of those he had met and the primary contacts are now isolated.
Arancillo urged the people of Dumarao to cooperate and follow health protocols to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Meanwhile, the municipal hall of Estancia, Iloilo was placed on lockdown Thursday after its municipal administrator tested positive for COVID-19.
