Simon Enciso sends best wishes to close pal Ray Parks

Blackwater guard Simon Enciso thinks something positive would come out following the controversy that happened with one-time backcourt mate Bobby Ray Parks Jr. and former team TNT Tropang Giga.

Enciso and Parks were roommates during their time with the Tropang Giga in the PBA Philippine Cup, and the two eventually formed a tight bond inside the ‘bubble’ late last year in Clark, Pampanga.

Until now, the two remain close, and according to Enciso, he continues to encourage the 28-year-old Parks to stay positive and to keep working hard on his game this off-season.

“As a friend and brother I told him to always remember all the hard work he puts in,” said Enciso when he appeared on the weekly sports show The Chasedown last Saturday over One PH on Cignal TV.

“It will pay off one way or the other.”

Parks found himself on the receiving end after it was revealed that he was staying in La Union, thousand of miles away from Los Angeles which was supposedly the place where he should be after asking permission from the TNT management if he could stay with his mother in the US.

No less than the team owner, telecommunications mogul Manny V. Pangilinan, who raised questions over Parks as the latter was actually negotiating with TNT for a contract renewal.

During the bubble tournament, the 6-foot-4 Parks played a pivotal role as TNT barged into the all-Filipino final series versus eventual champion Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.

After the controversy, Parks announced on social media that he is taking a break, and intends not to play this season. His rights remain with TNT even though his last deal had expired.

“The social media bashing and all that, was really getting into him. I just tried to be there as a brother and as a friend,” he said. “I just sent him messages, don’t listen to social media. Just know your work and the work you put in every day because he’s one of the hardest-working guys I know.”

Enciso said he continues to communicate with Parks.

“I just told him to keep his heads up and I’m sure an opportunity will arise. I kept telling him its business. Basketball is a business, so you just kind of roll in with the punches,” he added.

As for Encisio, after he signed a two-year contract with the Tropang Giga last year, he was shipped to Blackwater Bossing last month as part of a three-team trade which also involved NLEX.
