Robredo misses radio show due to weak internet signal

Vice President Leni Robredo was absent on Sunday, May 2, on her weekly radio show because of intermittent internet signal in her home in Quezon City, pushing radioman Ely Saludar to call on internet provider PLDT to fix its signal in the area.

Her spokesman, lawyer Barry Gutierrez, instead took over this weekend’s episode of BISErbisyong Leni over dzXL.

“Binabanggit ko, Atty., kasi ang daming nagtatanong kung bakit wala ang ating busy presidente meron problema po sa internet (I was mentioning, Atty., because many are asking why the busy president is not here, she has a problem with the internet),” Saludar, Robredo’s co-host, said.

The vice president had numerous problems with her internet signal in the past, the broadcaster said, adding that regular viewers of the radio show might have already noticed that.

“Madalas bumagsak ang signal eh ng ating busy presidente kaya tayo nanawagan lang naman at siguro nakikiusap sa PLDT, i-diretso na natin kay Boss MVP na sana maisaayos ang serbisyo at siyempre serbisyo po ito para sa taong bayan (Our busy president’s signal is always weak that’s why we are calling on and maybe appealing to PLDT, let’s direct it to Boss MVP, to fix their service because of course, this is service to the public),” Saludar added.

MVP refers to Manny V. Pangilinan, chairman of PLDT.

Saludar was referring to Robredo as busy presidente, a play on the words “bise presidente (vice president).” This was coined by Robredo’s supporters last year during the height of her response to the pandemic and the flooding in Cagayan Valley.

It throws shade at President Duterte who many criticize to be missing during catastrophic events in the country.
