PTV news anchor Diane Querrer finishes UP MBA program

PTV news anchor and television host Diane Querrer added another feather to her cap when she finished the Master in Business Administration (MBA) program at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City.
"Finally, after a year of delay due to the pandemic, I was able to pass the MBA Comprehensive Exam. Thank you UP VSB Cesar EA Virata School of Business, to all my UP professors! Special thanks to Ms. Ida David, my batchmates/classmates, study sesh group, and to my MBA mentor friends! Thank you to my loving family for the outpouring support!" said Diane.
The former beauty queen said, although she is not sure if they will have face-to-face graduation rites, "I am happy that I’ve finished the MBA program."

In an online interview, Diane said that she started her MBA in August 2018. "I was supposed to graduate in 2020, but our comprehensive exam was delayed due to the pandemic. We had to do it online this 2021, and gladly I passed!"
It wasn't an easy journey for the news anchor to finish school considering her tight schedule on PTV.
"I was working as a morning show host. My work started 7 a.m. and ended 8 a.m. for Good Morning Pilipinas then. Before being in prime-time, I was assigned as a news anchor for 'Daily Info' which aired 9 to 9:30 a.m. Since PTV is near UP Diliman, right after newscast, I went straight to class, still with my hair and makeup on. My professor used to ask me in class, “what are the headlines, Ms Querrer?" she said.

She added: "I had to adjust my class schedule to my work schedule. I remember I had to delay one of my Finance classes because it was scheduled at 8 a.m. So there were times when in some trimesters, I had to take classes both in UP Diliman and UP BGC, so I could take all the required courses, and could finish the program the same time as my batch mates."
But Diane's handwork and patience paid off.
Asked why she took up a course that's not related to her current profession, Diane said: "I get this usual question. However, it is an unpopular notion that MBA is really all-encompassing. Management, for me, is a necessary skill, whatever job you are in. I have classmates who are physical therapists, former flight attendants, and are in non-finance related jobs. There were accounts that even doctors and lawyers also took MBAs. Why not even journalists or anchors, right? I remember, all throughout as well my MBA program, I, most of the time, used media organizations as a case study in some of my MBA requirements."

Prior to UP, Diane finished BS accountancy at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila. She passed the board exams in May 2010. Later, Diane took her second degree BS Broadcast Communication at the state university where graduated in March 2017.
As of now, there are no special plans on why Diane took up a master's degree. "I can't really say what is ahead of the future. However, in life, it is always good to have a back-up plan."
