PLM classes to remain on asynchronous mode under extended MECQ

Classes at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) will remain under asynchronous mode of learning under extended modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

The MECQ declaration in the greater Manila area, also known as National Capital Region (NCR) Plus, is extended until May 14.

Asynchronous learning is a learning that does not require real-time interaction. It can be done through offline videos, materials, and educational resources provided beforehand by the teachers or professors.

Whenever synchronous sessions are carried out, PLM said student attendance will not be required and the session hall will be recorded and uploaded on Microsoft Teams for later reference.

Make-up activities shall also be given to students who will miss a graded activity during the synchronous session.

"The University recognizes the many challenges which students, faculty, and staff members are facing as the NCR Plus Bubble remains under restricted movement/ May the latest adjustment lighten the load as we navigate the new normal for the semester," PLM President Emmanuel Leyco said.

The university also announced that midterm examinations for undergraduate students will be taken at a later date to allow students to adjust to the MECQ protocols.

Meanwhile, examinations for the College of Law, which started the term earlier, will proceed as originally scheduled on May 3 to 8.

"Consideration will be given to students who will miss the examination period for meritorious reasons. He/she will be allowed to take a make-up exam or other similar activities to fulfill class requirements," PLM said.
