
Last March 21, a gallery within the historical Calvo Building in Escolta, Manila opened its doors to the public. The inaugural opening of The Art District Gallery coincided with its first art exhibit - a group show entitled “Maynila”.
The exhibit ran for a month and featured 22 of the country’s top contemporary artists. Despite the lockdown imposed on the entire National Capital Region during the duration of the exhibit, all the art pieces exhibited got sold out within weeks before the last day of the show last April 21st.
The “Maynila” group show was curated by artist/curator Jim Orencio and featured the works of (In alphabetical order) Alex Aguilar, Ejem Alarcon, Sariel Ancheta, Aldron Anchinges, Japs Antido, Demosthenes Campos, Kel Cruz, Demetrio Dela Cruz, Domeng Dela Cruz, Ces Eugenio, Pedro Garcia II, Riel Hilario, Philipp Ines, Wenn Licuanan, Eric Masangkay, Jim Orencio, Jucar Raquepo, Ioannis Sicuya, Adrian Trijo, Roma Valles, Jay Viriña and Chino Yulo.
Following the success of its sold-out 1st group exhibit, The Art District Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of its 2nd group exhibit. The show is entitled “Maynila: Noon at Ngayon” and will feature the works of sculptors Ral Arrogante, Wilson William Baldemor, Richard Buxani, Frederic Caedo, Xiao Chua, Joe Datuin, Chris Magbuhos, Carlito Ortega, Sam Penaso, Rodel Rillera and Jun Rodrigo Vicaldo (alphabetically).
“Maynila: Noon at Ngayon” will run from May 5 to June 5, 2021.
