Find out about these two MMDA traffic enforcers' honest deed

This feel-good story is for those who doubt the goodness in the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority's (MMDA) traffic enforcers.

Two of them, Jaypee Cabatuando and Floramae Suegay, found a lost wallet containing P11,000 in cash on Saturday night, May 1, along Shaw Boulevard on EDSA.

Using the contact details they found in the wallet, Cabatuando and Suegay tried to reach the owner, Melvin Daria Sultan Jr., in order to return the item and the money. However, Sultan didn't reply on Facebook.

"We decided to bring it back to him instead this morning at their address on Sitio Damagan Lumang Ilog, Barangay San Juan, Taytay, Rizal," MMDA traffic czar Edison Bong Nebrija told the Manila Bulletin on Sunday afternoon, May 2.

"Baka wala ng load kaya di na makareply, wala ng data para maka- FB at baka wala ng pamasahe para daanan sa opisina (Maybe he didn't have load that's why he couldn't reply, no data that's why he can't use FB, and no money to pay the fare and fetch his wallet at the office)," said Nebrija, who personally handed over the wallet Sultan.

"He said, 'Salamat sa Diyos at naibalik ang wallet ko sa pamamagitan ninyo. Salamat po sir (Thank God, my wallet was returned to me through your action. Thank you sir)," Nebrija said of the Taytay resident.

Sultan told Nebrija that he thought thieves had stolen his wallet. "Siguro raw mas kailangan nung nakakuha (He said that those who took it probably needed the money more)," the MMDA official said, sharing what Sultan had on his mind.

"Sabi ko nahulog niya yung wallet niya at 'di nadukot. Napulot ng enforcer namin kaya ito binabalik namin sa 'yo kasama P11,000 (I told him that his wallet wasn't stolen, but probably fell to the ground. Our enforcers found it, and that's why we were able to return it to you along with the P11,000)," Nebrija said.
