A 4.5-magnitude earthquake hit Davao Oriental on Saturday night, May 1, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) has reported.

The quake, which was tectonic in origin, occurred at 10:26 p.m. It originated at 44 kilometers (km) southeast of Sarangani, Davao Occidental.
The quake had a depth of focus of 39 kilometers.
Phivolcs does not expect damage to property. It said aftershocks were unlikely to occur.
