Coast Guard receives speedboat, watercraft from Cavite LGU

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) received a twin-engine speedboat and four personal watercraft from the provincial government of Cavite on Wednesday, May 19.

PCG Commodore Leovigildo Panopio, PCG District NCR - Central Luzon commander, said the new sea assets will be used to strengthen maritime law enforcement and search and rescue operations off Cavite waters.

“The assets will greatly help in intensifying PCG presence in the province, allowing Coast Guardians to better serve local residents by upholding maritime security, maritime safety, and marine environmental protection,” Panopio said in a statement.

On Wednesday morning, Panopio paid a courtesy visit to Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla to express the PCG's appreciation.

Meanwhile, Remulla assured the local government’s commitment to support the humanitarian armed service in the performance of its mandates, especially amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
