Cebu Pacific (CEB) Wednesday, (May 19) took delivery of its ninth Airbus A321neo (New Engine Option) in a bid to make its operations more eco-friendly.
The aircraft cuts fuel cost by 20 percent, translating to lower fares for passengers.
Aside from being more fuel-efficient, the A321neo has a 50 percent reduced noise footprint versus previous generation aircraft.
No wonder, CEB is transitioning to an all-NEO fleet to reduce its carbon emissions and achieve its sustainability goals.
“We are happy to continue moving forward with our long-term fleet plan in line with our commitment to keep providing safe and affordable travel for everyone," according to Alex Reyes, CEB's Chief Strategy Officer.
"Now more than ever, ensuring our operations are as efficient and sustainable as possible is of top priority and we are glad to have started with this journey even before the pandemic,” he added.
CEB’s newest aircraft will enter into service within this month, flying to various destinations in its domestic network of 44 routes.
Notably, CEB has one of the youngest fleets in the world, with an average age of 5.75 years.
To date, the airline's 75-strong fleet is comprised of nine A321neo, 25 Airbus A320, seven Airbus A321ceo, five Airbus A320neo, seven Airbus A330, six ATR 72-500, and 13 ATR 72-600 aircraft.
