Pia Wurtzbach airs side on Miss Universe fan votes

At the Miss Universe beauty pageant, 2015 Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach was surprised that Vietnam had more pageant fans than the Philippines.

"Mas maraming pageant fans sa Vietnam kesa sa Pilipinas? (exploding head emojis) #MissUniverse," Pia's tweet read.

Miss Vietnam entered the Top 21 after she received the largest number of fan votes in Miss Universe history.

However, some netizens misinterpreted Pia's post. But she was quick to explain her side in a series of tweets.

"Woah! Woke up to so many angry fans from Vietnam! I think some of you misunderstood my tweet last night! I didn't mean any harm by it at all! #MissUniverse #MissUniverseVietnam," she explained.

"For years I was told (and I believed) that the Philippines had the most pageant fans in the world. But yesterday Vietnam got the highest votes in history! Which meant I was wrong. Which surprised me! That's it!! That's all I meant by my tweet!"

Pia reiterated she wasn't being "sarcastic" or "questioning" the fan votes at all.
