PCG prohibits swimming near slipway projects, light station in Surigao del Norte
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Station Surigao del Norte has prohibited the public from conducting swimming activities near areas of ongoing slipway projects and light station to prevent accidents and other tragedies.

“Swimming activities along the on-going slipway project of PCG and entry of unauthorized personnel on the premises of newly constructed light station Surigao, also known as ‘Farola,’ which located in Surigao City Boulevard, Brgy. Taft, Surigao City is strictly prohibited,” Coast Guard Station Surigao del Norte said in a statement.
The PCG said the slipway project aims to have an accessible area for the launching of Coast Guard’s floating assets for immediate response in the conduct of search and rescue operations.

Meanwhile, the light station in Surigao serves as navigational aid for maritime pilots at sea or inland waterways and helps them to guide vessels safely into and out of harbors.
Personnel of the PCG Station Surigao del Norte have already installed warning signs in the areas to ensure the safety of the public for any occurrence of untoward incidents in the area.
