Over P28M damage to dialysis supplies, medicines in PCGH fire - Mayor Sotto

Over P28 million worth of hemodialysis supplies and more than P1.2M worth of medicines were damaged in the fire that hit the Pasig City General Hospital (PCGH) on Wednesday, May 12, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto said on Monday.

In a Facebook Live, Sotto said that the damage will cause delays to the hospital's health services, especially its dialysis services.

"Medyo maraming natamaan na supplies. Okay na yun kaysa equipment. Magkakaroon ng delays, magkakaroon ng problema sa serbisyong pangkalusugan natin gaya ng dialysis. Malaki-laki ang sunog at matagal-tagal din bago nag-under control at nag-fire out (A lot of supplies were damaged, but better those than the equipment. There will be delays and problems with some health services such as dialysis. The fire was big and it took some time to extinguish it)," he said.

Sotto apologized to his constituents and asked for patience as the local government is trying its best to fix the hospital.

"Konting pasensya lang po sa mga pasyente nang PCGH. We will do our best para mapabilis yung pagaayos nang building at masiguro yung structural integrity ay intact at pati na yung mga medical supplies and equipment na natamaan ay mapalitan agad (I'm asking for patience from the patients of PCGH. We will do our best to fix the hospital as fast as possible and to ensure that its structural integrity is intact. We will also do our best to replace the damaged medical supplies and equipment as fast as possible)." Sotto said.

The Pasig City Public Information Office (PIO) said the fire began at 10:37 a.m. and reached the third alarm before authorities declared it under control at 1:25 p.m.
