Long queues in vaccination sites a 'good problem' - Mayor Isko

Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno'' Domagoso sees the long lines in coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccination centers as a "good problem" as it shows that people are determined to get the vaccines that will protect them from COVID-19.

In an interview with CNN Philippines on Tuesday (May 18), Domagoso said the city can vaccinate up to 20,000 people. Manila residents just need to line up at any of the 19 COVID-19 vaccination centers that the city government has put up.

He said he allowed walk-ins because he, along with other Metro Manila mayors, experienced during the first day of vaccination when the city texted 1,000 people who registered to get inoculated, only 300 arrived.

"Ang ginawa namin niyayakap namin ang lahat. Mayroon lang iyang setback iyong ganyang approach, siyempre dadami yung tao eh sa akin that is a good problem (What we did is we accepted everyone who wants to get vaccinated. The only setback in this approach is of course a lot of people will come, which for me, is a good problem)," he said.

Domagoso advised those who want to get vaccinated to be patient.

He admitted there may be "some prejudice" and "some biases" in the residents' choice of vaccine brands.

But he reiterated the advice of doctors that the best vaccine is the one that is available.

Domagoso disclosed that he already received his second dose of Sinovac’s CoronaVac vaccine and is feeling okay.
