Dizon says crowded Pfizer vaccine rollout in Parañaque shows 'increased vaccine confidence'

National Task Force (NTF) against COVID-19 Deputy Chief Implementer Vince Dizon said on Tuesday, May 18, the crowded Pfizer vaccine rollout in Parañaque showed that vaccine confidence among Filipinos is "increasing."

On Monday, May 17, Parañaque residents flocked a mall in hopes of getting inoculated with the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.

"Yung nangyari po sa Parañaque ay nangyayari rin sa ibang lugar. Nakikita natin na tumataas na ang kumpyansa ng ating mga kababayan sa pagbabakuna (What happened in Parañaque is also happening in other places. We see that the confidence of our countrymen in vaccination is increasing)," Dizon said during a televised Palace briefing.

Reiterating experts' advice, Dizon said the best vaccine is the one that is available.

"Hindi natin maiiwasan na merong pagkiling ang ating mga kababayan kung anong bakuna ang gusto nilang matanggap. Importante maintindihan na lahat po ng mga bakuna na nasa Pilipinas ay ligtas at epektibo (We cannot avoid our countrymen's preference on which vaccine they want to receive. It's important to understand that all vaccines in the Philippines are safe and effective)," Dizon stressed.

"Lahat po ito ay dumaan na sa masusing proseso ng pag-validate ng iba't ibang eksperto sa Pilipinas at sa ibang bansa. At ang pinakaepektibo pong bakuna ay yung bakuna na makukuha na natin (All vaccines went through validation processes here and abroad. And the most effective vaccine is the one that we can get)," he added.

Dizon reminded those who are queueing to get vaccinated to still observe minimum health standards such as wearing of face mask and face shield and observing physical distancing.
