Navotas City on 3rd week with lowest COVID-19 daily attack rate in NCR

Navotas City remains the top city in the National Capital Region with the lowest number of average new daily COVID-19 cases for three consecutive weeks now.

From 12.36 average daily attack rate (ADAR) on April 25 to May 1 and 7.2 on May 3 to 9, the city's ADAR further plunged to 5.99 on May 9 to 14, the OCTA Research Group noted.

Mayor Toby Tiangco said the number only "shows that the policies we implemented have been effective in protecting our people from COVID-19 and in preventing further transmission of the virus."

He said the city's use of quarantine bands for COVID-19 patients and their close contacts as well as the mandatory swab test for quarantine rules violators are working.

But he reminded city residents to keep their guard and continue complying with the minimum health standards.

"It is so easy for our COVID numbers to shoot up, especially now that we have four new and highly transmissible variants. Yet, it takes so much energy, time, and money to get those numbers down. This is why we must continue to be extra careful and do our utmost to be protected from the disease," Tiangco said.

"Aside from following our safety protocols, have yourself vaccinated if you are 18 years old and above," he added, noting that residents can now choose whether to get the AstraZeneca or Pfizer-BioNTech jab.

Residents and workers in Navotas aged 18 and above may register for the free COVID vaccines at http://covax.navotas.gov.ph/
