VIRAL: Baby wears Rabiya Mateo's national costume-inspired outfit

Not a full day has passed after Rabiya Mateo walked the runway in her national costume as part of the Miss Universe preliminary competition, and 33-year-old Aiza Cipriano has already made her two-month-old baby Zia a crocheted outfit based on her that memorable national costume.

Aiza told Manila Bulletin hat it started out as a hobby so she could make clothes for her eldest daughter Gia who is now four years old. Handmade by Sabelle started in 2016 with most of her designs are costumes that babies and children can wear.

"Since I do monthly costumes for babies, I made one for my baby Gab for her second month. And it was very timely, as a supporter for Miss Rabiya Mateo, I decided to make a mini version of her national costume. For good vibes, too!" When asked how long it took to make this, Aiza, obviously a professional, said, "It took only six hours since I have other made-to-order costumes lined up for this month."

Her orders are lined up for the next months, with nine costumes she has to finished before the end of this month. Price ranges from P2,000 to P3,000, "depending on the size and intricacies of the design since everything is handmade." And it seems she is enjoying. "Most of my creations are freehand, meaning, I don't have any patterns. I enjoy crocheting because it's my stress reliever and, of course, it's my source of income. I enjoy seeing my works, especially once they are worn by my clients. I really recommend crocheting for people who are dealing with depression. It reduces anxiety and stress."
