Thailand, Puerto Rico favored to win at 69th Miss Universe - UK betting site

Miss Thailand Amanda Obdam

Following the preliminary competitions, a betting site in London predicted that either Miss Thailand Amanda Obdam or Miss Puerto Rico Estefania Soto could win the title of Miss Universe 2020 in Hollywood, Florida.

As of May 15, online gambling site nicerodds.com.uk made Obdam the favorite with 5.00 odds.

In second place is Soto with 5.25 odds.

Miss Mexico Andrea Meza is ranked third with 7.00 odds.

Tied for fourth place: Miss Philippines Rabiya Mateo, Miss Colombia Laura Victoria Olscuaga and Miss South Africa Natasha Joubert with 7.50 odds.

Rounding off the top 5 is Miss Peru Janick Maceta del Castillo with 8.00 odds.

The finals of the 69th Miss Universe Competition will broadcast live from Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Hollywood in Florida on May 16 (May 17 at 8 a.m. in Manila).

Who is Amanda Obdam?

Amanda Obdam was raised an island girl in her hometown Phuket, south of Thailand. She graduated with honors from the University of Toronto with a degree in business administration.

Amanda is the co-founder of Batika Studio, a product line honoring traditional batik art through sustainable everyday clothing and tote bags. Amanda started volunteer work at a very young age after her hometown was hit by the 2004 Tsunami which caused devastation and tremendous loss on the island.

She worked with Phuket Has Been Good To Us Foundation teaching English to children affected by the Tsunami. Amanda sees that there is a lack of understanding for the illnesses in her country and is an advocate for mental health.

She started her "Have You Listened" campaign to promote listening with the intention to understand in the community. She believes that we can provide help by truly listening to one another.
