The widening works on the 70.6-meter Labato Bridge in Barangay Namabbalan, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan province have been completed, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) revealed on Sunday, May 16.

DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar said the expansion, which doubled the bridge's previous two-lane width into four, allowed for a wider capacity for the traveling public to utilize.
The agency noted that the easing of traffic along Cagayan Valley Road will facilitate the improvement of economic activities in the city proper.
“Upgrading the Labato Bridge does not only service commuters coming in and out of Tuguegarao City. It also enables for a more convenient city access to hasten delivery of goods and services,” Villar explained.
The DPWH chief also commended the efforts of DPWH Cagayan 3rd District Engineering Office (DEO) for successfully implementing a project befitting the needs of an ever-progressing area in Cagayan Valley Region.
Funded under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2019, the bridge widening project cost P67 million.
