69th Miss Universe candidates wear creations by Filipino designers

Some Filipino designers have raised the Philippine flag at the 69th Miss Universe Competition ongoing in Hollywood, Florida when they dressed up some candidates for the prestigious pageant.

The stunning creations of Filipino designers were showcased at the National Costume and Preliminary competitions.

Miss Singapore Bernadette Ong

Miss Singapore Bernadette Ong wore a national costume with prints on her cape that says "Stop Asian Hate." It was painted by Filipino artist Paulo Espinosa and created by Arwin Meriales.

Miss Czech Republic

Miss Cameroon Angele Kossinda's lion-inspired ensemble was designed by San Mateo-based fashion student Kennedy Gasper.

She also wore a sparkling slitted gown by Filipino designer Benj Leguiab for the prelims.

Michael Cinco, who is also based in Dubai, made gowns for Miss Czech Republic Klara Vavrushkova and Miss Romania Bianca Tirsin.

Miss Belize

Rian Fernandez also dressed up Miss Cambodia Sarita Reth for the national costume show.

Miss Belize Iris Salguero gracefully paraded in her 15kg detailed blue gown by Jian Lasala.

Miss Philippines Rabiya Mateo wowed the crowd in her Philippine flag-inspired national costume designed by the late Rocky Gathercole. 

Rabiya was also glowing in her yellow gown created by Dubai-based Filipino designer Furne One.
