Three PH teams barge into playoffs of all-female CODM Valkyrie Series

All-girls Philippine teams XD Gaming LXIX, Gaijin Invicta and Aimbot Esports came through with solid performances in the group stage to enter the playoffs of the Garena Call of Duty Valkyrie Series.

The three squads finished in the top four of the $3,000 (over P140,000) eight-team regional tournament following the conclusion of the seven-day group stage last Wednesday night, May 12.

Bannered by Dannah Angeline "Aphaea" Castañeda, Raenan Isabel "Yakee" Villa, Daena "Consta" Constantino, Venice Daphne "Venice" Mea, Kersey Andrea "Cyka" Batua and Chantela Jessette "Aphro" Lapatha, XDG LXIX emerged atop the standings with a total of 18 points on an 18-3 win-loss record and a superior head-to-head match-up against Velvet of Singapore.

XDG only dropped a game each against Malaysia's Sukeban, Velvet and Gaijin before it wrapped up its dominant campaign with a 3-0 rout of Team Eve.

Aphaea and company crushed Eve, 150-28, in the opening Hardpoint at Crossfire before posting a 6-0 sweep in Search & Destroy at Summit and a 150-32 victory in Domination at Firing Range.

"Our goal during the group stage was to show that we were the team to watch out for. We wanted to showcase our skills, but not all our tactics. You have seen our individual skills in action, now that playoffs are secured you will see another level in our game," said XDG manager Arkisha Aragon.

For its part, Gaijin Invicta featuring captain Lourdes Rose Anne "Rosie" Bosch, Elaine Mae "Ellin" Jimeno Ingrid "Tokyo" Reyes, Keith Margaret "Devi" Perez and Yanina "Mia" Suarez took the No. 3 spot after amassing 16 points on a 16-5 slate.

The squad under managers Tiffany Diety and Zyryl David closed out the group stage with a 3-0 demolition of Malaysia's 21 Huntress.

Meanwhile, AIM Artemis composed of Scarlet, Yssa, Kimy, Azrie, Sammy and Muji landed at No. 4 after garnering 11 points on an 11-10 card.

However, AIM lost 3-0 to Velvet in the closing day of the group stage.

Come the double elimination playoffs slated May 17-18, XDG will take on AIM while Gaijin will battle Velvet.

The champion will bag $1,500 (over P70,000) even as the runner-up will nab $750 (P35,000). The third and fourth place finishers will get $500 (P23,000) and $250 (P11,000), respectively.
