She has made a name for herself as a versatile singer, songwriter, actress, dancer. But Julie Anne San Jose is not stopping there.
She is now looking towards "diversifying" even further.
First in her list is doing theater work.
Apparently, she wants to follow in the footsteps of her biggest inspiration, Lea Salonga.
She quipped with a twinkle in her eye, "It would be so nice ma-explore the realm of theater."
Julie Anne revealed Lea actually inspired her to become a "better performer, singer."
She dreams of sharing the stage with Lea someday.
But that could wait.
For now, she is keeping busy honing her many talents.
Julia Anne recently released a new track titled "Free," which she co-wrote with Eduardo Gonzalez and Denise Pimping.
She described the song as a "feel-good" song that is also "chill."
The Kapuso star added it's a good "distraction" amid trying times.
"Lahat tayo gusto maging free from stress, free from problems, free from anxieties, free from this pandemic! So we wanted to get the message across through 'Free.'"
Julie Anne proudly shared she made great effort to incorporate primitive instruments in the track including the kulintang, something she shared was inspired by another of her idols, Gary V.
She was so inspired that she even wrote a song meant for Gary.
"Kasi minsan pag nagsusulat ako ng mga kanta. Na-i-imagine ko kung para kanino pwede. Or like kanino ba bagay yung kanta. Or kanino perfect yung certain song na yun. Sometimes when I write a song, like, 'O parang bagay to kay Tito Gary so, now I have a song for him.'"
She added, "Si Tito Gary, he's one of my musical influences din talaga. And I'm just so happy kasi yun, minsan kapag ka nagkikita kami or nagkaka-exchange kami ng tweets, na starstruck pa din ako! Kasi I really look up to him! Hopefully one of these days (we can work together). It would really be a great honor for me so, sana, sana!"
Has she told Gary about it?
"Well, yung isa sa mga conversation namin, nabanggit ko sa kanya. Kasi nag-usap kami about writing songs and making something together and coming up with something. Tapos sabi ko 'I might have a song.' So I guess..."
