DFA: No new death among overseas Filipinos due to COVID-19

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported that no Filipino overseas died due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Saturday, May 15.

The total number of COVID-19 deaths among Filipinos abroad is still at 1,162.

According to the DFA, the number of Filipinos overseas affected by the disease reached 18,607 on May 15 in 94 countries or territories. The number of Filipinos undergoing treatment is 6,076.

Meanwhile, 11,369 of the total number of cases have already recovered.

The DFA has said its personnel in its foreign service posts remained steadfast in partnering with local health authorities and commit to tirelessly attending to the needs of Filipinos, whenever possible.

Based on data from the DFA, 10,465 of the total number of coronavirus cases came from Middle Eastern and African countries. Of the said number, 758 died, 5,913 recovered, and 3,794 were still undergoing treatment.

There have been 3,392 Filipinos with COVID-19 in Europe, 130 of whom died while 2,319 recovered.

The DFA reported that 3,767 of the total number of cases came from the Asia Pacific Region and 983 were from the Americas.
