New Viu K-shows: 'Doom at Your Service' airs, 'Hong Cheon Gi' set for launch

Over-the-top (OTT) video streaming service Viu has revealed another Viu Original after launching a new Korean drama.
“Doom at Your Service,” its second Korean Viu Original, premiered on May 10 starring actress Park Bo-young and actor-singer Seo In-guk.
The drama tells the story of Dong Kyung (Park Bo-young), a web novel editor diagnosed with brain cancer, who unintentionally summons Myul Mang (Seo In-guk), a messenger between humans and gods to appear. When he unexpectedly offers to grant her wishes, she makes a contract with him for a hundred days to live as she wants, risking everything in the process.
After “Doom at Your Service,” Viu will release its next Viu Original from Korea, “Hong Cheon Gi,” a romantic fantasy period drama set to premiere exclusively on the OTT platform in the third quarter of the year.
“Hong Cheon Gi” is based on a novel of the same name and tells the story of Hong Cheon Gi (to be played by actress Kim Yoo Jung), an artist with extraordinary aesthetic insight and skills who became the first female painter of the Dohwaseo (Korean Royal Academy of Painting).
During her stay in the palace, she gets embroiled in a love triangle with Ha Ram (Ahn Hyo Seop), an officer well-versed in astronomy and meteorology who lost his sight in a childhood accident, and the Grand Prince Anpyeong (Gong Myung) who is an arts enthusiast.
Kim Yoo Jung’s drama credits include “The Moon Embracing the Sun” in 2012 and “Love in the Moonlight” with Park Bogum in 2016.
Ahn Hyo Seop has gained popularity after appearing in “Still 17” (2018), “Abyss” (2019) and “Dr. Romantic 2” (2020).
Gong Myung’s dramas include “The Bride of Habaek” (2017), “Feel Good To Die” (2018) and “Be Melodramatic” (2019).

Viu is pleased to introduce “UBettina Wethu,” a South African adaptation of hit international comedy drama “Ugly Betty” and the first-ever South African Viu Original, to its audience in Asia.
In the pipeline are three popular Thai drama shows “Wannabe,” “My Coach” and “Agent Ghost.” Wannabe is a story about a group of millennials from different walks of life that cross paths starring Chanon Santinatornkul (aka “Nonkul”), hip-hop artist Supakit Thinjun and Marina Balenciaga.
