As the deadline set by the national government for the distribution of financial aid looms, the Parañaque City government said it will complete it before the end of this week.
In a text message sent by City Administrator Ding Soriano, he said 80 percent of the city's beneficiaries have received the aid from the national government for those affected by the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).
"Within the week sana matapos na tayo (I hope we can finish within the week)," Local government units (LGUs) have appealed for an extension since the 15 days earlier imposed by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) will not be sufficient to fully dispense the cash aid especially for cities with huge population.
Mayor Edwin Olivarez has said that the list of beneficiaries from the Department of Social Welfare and Development has so far been accurate. A grievance and appeals committee was also created mainly to act and respond to any irregularities in the distribution or concerns from the beneficiaries such as missing names.
A total of 604,000 individuals or 151,000 families are expected to benefit from the financial aid from the national government.
Parañaque City received a total of P604 million from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
Aside from the cash aid distribution from the national government Olivarez said the city also allotted a budget to provide food packs containing rice and canned goods to residents.
