Makati Mayor Abby Binay said the Metro Manila Council (MMC) is “united in position” to gradually ease quarantine restrictions.

“I think we are united in a position na magiging gradual yung opening (for the opening to be gradual) and that position will be acceptable to DOH (Department of Health) as well as the economic team of the President,” Binay said during the virtual Kapihan sa Manila Bay on Wednesday when asked how safe it is for the National Capital Region (NCR) to get out of modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).
Binay said the easing of restrictions should be done just “enough” for other businesses to be able to start up.
“Maybe increase the capacity of restaurants a little,” she said.
The mayor however said there are other things to consider in easign quarnatien codnitons such as the decteion of the Indian varaitn in the country.
“Again, kailangan maging maingat at hindi mag relax (we have to be careful and not relax). Kung tayo man ay mag relax, (If we do relax) assuming we do realx our quanraitne classificaiton it does not mean that we will relax our efforts so social distancing pa rin, I assume there will still be curfew,” she said.
Binay said the MMC will be meeting tonight to discuss their recommendation for NCR's next quarantine classification.
