Manila LGU completes 'ayuda' distribution in 35 days to over 300K families

The Manila City government has completed its distribution of the financial assistance from the national government in 35 days to those who were adversely affected by the implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) to stop the spread of COVID-19.

The Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW) led the distribution to 380,820 family beneficiaries that each received P4,000.

Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso said the city government completed the distribution in 35 days.

"Natapos po namin sa loob ng 35 days of operation yung 380,820 beneficiaries ng P1,523,270,000. Natupad namin before the May 15 deadline (In 35 days of operation, we completed the distribution to 380,820 beneficiaries before the May 15 deadline)," Domagoso said on Tuesday (May 11).

A total of 6,421 persons with disabilities (PWDs) and 4,241 solo parents also received financial assistance.

Meanwhile, 20,335 persons under vulnerable groups and 90,072 families from left-out barangays in the city have also received the financial aid.

Domagoso expressed his gratitude to the personnel of MDSW, daycare teachers, and daycare workers in the city for fulfilling the task.

"Masaya po kami Mr. President na natupad namin yung pangarap mo para sa mga tao, nagawa ahead of time (We're happy Mr. President that we fulfilled your dream for the people and we did it ahead of time). I'm proud of my co-workers here in City hall with regard to mga social worker namin, daycare teacher namin or daycare workers namin na tumulong (I am proud of our social workers, daycare teachers, or daycare workers who helped)," he said.

The national government distributed the cash aid to help families in Metro Manila and in the adjacent provinces under the National Capital Region (NCR) Plus affected by the implementation of the ECQ.
