Bulacan receives 76,801 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines

The Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) received an additional 76,801 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines from the national government.

The Provincial Public Affairs Office (PPAO) said the additional vaccine doses were immediately stored at the designated cold storage of the province at the Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center.

PPAO head Maricel Santos Cruz said a total of 46,504 (54.05 percent) individuals, based on the allocation provided for A1 to A3 groups, frontline health workers and professionals; senior citizens aged 60 years old and above, and adults with comorbidities already received their first dose of the vaccine while 5,751 (6.93 percent) were already inoculated with the second dose.

Cruz said that the additional 76,801 vaccines will be used to vaccinate the remaining priority groups. The vaccination of employees from the National Government Agencies (NGA) and PGB staff for the second dose of vaccine and catch-up vaccination of the first dose for priority groups including health workers, senior citizens, and individuals with comorbidities (A1, A2, and A3 groups) started on Tuesday at the province’s vaccination center.

Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando said the province will try to vaccinate as many Bulakenyos as possible for as long as there are vaccines available.

“Dahil sa limitado pa rin ang mga bakuna na available dito sa atin, pagsusumikapan ng ating Pamahalaang Panlalawigan na matugunan at mabakunahan ang mga Bulakenyo hangga’t maaari, hangga’t may dumarating sa ating mga bakuna. Kahit paunti-unti, alam ko na makakamit natin ang proteksyong ating kinakailangan para labanan ang COVID-19,” (Due to the still limited supply of vaccines, the provincial government will try to vaccinate as many as we can manage, as long as the vaccines are there. I know we will get the protection that we need to combat COVID-19)," Fernando said.
