Filipina in UAE recognized for donating breast milk to babies who lost their mothers to COVID

A Filipina in Dubai was given a humanitarian award for donating her breast milk to babies who were separated from their mothers due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Chinie Jane Ching, now known as the "Cow Mama" of the UAE, has been donating her breast milk to support babies who have lost their mothers due to medical conditions, including COVID-19.

In a Facebook post, Ching was named champion in humanitarian award by Prodigy Bureau and Sheikha Jawaher Bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairperson for the Sheikha Jawaher Al Khalifa Foundation for Youth Empowerment, last April 12.

"We are sharing our milk to support mothers who are low-in-supply, mothers who are under medical complications, premature babies, COVID-19 survivor-moms, babies who are separated from their moms, babies in isolation facilities, and babies who lost their mother because of COVID-19," Ching said in a separate post.

She added that more mothers are joining her advocacy in "saving and sharing love to those who are in need".

"Itong advocacy kong 'to naging tulay siya para mag open up sa mga mommies at opportunity nadin sa mga mommies na kagaya ko na willing mag donate (This advocacy of mine has become a bridge to open up to mommies and also an opportunity for mommies like me who are willing to donate)," Ching told the Manila Bulletin.

"Makes me humble and proud. Pakiramdam ko hindi lang isa yung anak ko. Ang dami ko nang anak. Dahil sa advocay nating ito marami tayong natutulungan at mas marami tayong masasave na buhay ng mga bata ("Makes me humble and proud. I feel like I don't have just one child, I already have many children. Because of our advocacy, we helped a lot and we can save more children's lives)," she added.

Ching has already helped nearly 40 babies, according to a GMA News report.

Her husband also supports what she is doing by delivering the milk she is donating to the hospitals, the report added.

Ching earned her Bachelor of Science in Tourism degree at the Mindanao State University.

She was a flight attendant who completed a short course in caregiving in Dubai.

Ching added she wants to convey to his fellow OFWs the importance of helping especially during this time of pandemic.
