DOH records 4,734 new COVID-19 cases, lowest since March 17

The Department of Health (DOH) tallied 4,734 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the past 24 hours.

This is the lowest number of new cases reported in a single day since March 17, wherein 4,387 cases were detected then.

Based on Tuesday's case update, the country's total caseload reached 1,113,547, wherein 5.1 percent or 56,752 are active cases or those who are still ill.

The DOH reported that 93.4 percent are experiencing mild symptoms, 2.2 percent are asymptomatic, 1.4 percent are in critical condition, 1.8 percent are severe patients, and 1.17 percent are experiencing moderate symptoms.

Also, the death count climbed to 18,620 as 59 more patients succumbed to the disease. The country's case fatality rate is at 1.67 percent.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 survivors also increased to 1,038,175 with 7,837 new recoveries. The total number of recoveries is equivalent to 93.2 percent of the overall tally of cases.

“Thirteen duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 10 are recovered and one is a death,” the DOH noted.

The DOH said that all COVID-19 laboratories nationwide were able to submit their data on time to the department’s COVID-19 Document Repository System.
