30K Pfizer jabs delivered to Cebu by PAL

Nearly 30,000 doses of the United States (US)-manufactured Pfizer vaccines that arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Monday night, May 10 have been flown to Cebu.

Information reaching the Manila Bulletin said a Philippine Airlines (PAL) A321 aircraft with flight number PR1845 transported 29,250 doses of Pfizer vaccines to Cebu early Tuesday morning, May 11.

The vaccines form a good chunk of the initial batch of 193,050 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines that the Philippines received as donation through the World Health Organization (WHO)-led Covax Facility.

The sought-after Pfizer jabs arrived at NAIA Terminal 2 in Pasay City at around 9 p.m. Monday.

Also sent to Cebu via flight PR1845 were 80 doses of China-made Sinovac and 132,000 doses of British-Swedish vaccine AstraZeneca.

Meanwhile, PAL Express flights (2P) also facilitated the distribution of the following volume of vaccines to their respective locations: 80 doses of Sinovac and 74,400 doses of AstraZeneca to Cagayan de Oro via 2P2521; 120 Sinovac, 67,200 AstraZeneca to Tacloban via 2P2981; 80 Sinovac, 79,600 AstraZeneca to Iloilo via 2P2141; and 80 Sinovac, 48,000 AstraZeneca to Butuan via 2P2934.

"PAL is ready to do what it can to support the country's thrust towards healing and recovery," the flag-carrier said in a statement.

"Our route network, our highly-trained flight and ground teams, our fleet have made vaccine transport possible. We look forward to more missions in the service of the nation," it added.
