Aside from the 'floating pantries' that continuously help fishermen in some provinces, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has also set up community pantries for some residents and passengers in port and coastal area who were affected by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

Personnel of PCG Substation Talisay have personally set up community pantry in Barangay Pooc, Talisay City, Cebu on Sunday, May 2, as they distributed fresh vegetables and eggs for the residents.

The PCG Sub-Station Talisay said their purpose of creating the community pantry was to support the daily needs of the affected residents amid pandemic.
Residents and passengers in Banago Port, Bacolod City were also given assistance by the PCG Station Negros Occidental through their community pantry on Friday, April 30.

Some truck drivers, cargo helpers, and passengers who traveled from Banago Port to Dumangas Port, Iloilo received purified bottled waters, biscuits, and fresh vegetables amid the scorching heat of the summer season.
Meanwhile, more floating pantries sprouted in the middle of the sea off Sarangani Bay, General Santos City and San Jose, Camarines Sur.

The PCG District Southern Mindanao also distributed vitamins, face masks, face shields, and alcohol for the fishermen to fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
Personnel of the PCG Station Camarines Sur have distributed fresh vegetables, rice, canned goods, noodles, coffee, and food spices to over 150 fishermen in San Jose on Thursday, May 6.
Some senior citizens were also given financial assistance for their vitamins and other medicines.
Last month, the PCG has launched floating community pantries in the middle of sea in Surigao del Sur, Zambales, and Camarines Sur to help fishermen who were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
