DOH orders 14-day quarantine for Caloocan resort guests

The Department of Health (DOH) said those who went to the Gubat sa Ciudad resort in Caloocan City over the weekend must undergo a 14-day quarantine.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said this needed in order to ensure that there will be no transmission of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

"They need to go on quarantine for 14 days. All of them. So we can ensure no transmission will take place," she said in a virtual forum on Monday, May 10.

Vergeire said they already instructed their regional office to monitor those who went to the said resort.

"This is wrong. We will not tolerate this. We don't want the cases to increase. So we have advised our regional office to strictly monitor all of those that attended this gathering in this resort," she said.

The DOH official reminded the public that the threat of the virus is still present.

"The virus is still present. We cannot yet say we are already safe," Vergeire said.

"Try to follow health standards, avoid going to the non-essential, like going swimming in a resort or beach. Let us help one another. Avoid these kind of activities for the meantime," she added.

Pictures of people swimming in the resort surfaced in social media over the weekend.

The National Capital Region (NCR) is still under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).
