The Taguig City government said 14,155 residents have already been vaccinated against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

As of April 8, the total inoculations in Taguig consisted of 8,512 frontline workers in health facilities, 3,091 senior citizens and 2,552 people with comorbidities. Of the 8,512 frontliners, 536 have already received their second dose of the vaccine.
Comorbidity is the presence of more than one disease or condition in a person at the same time, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The city government said vaccination will continue until the supply coming from the national government lasts. It aims to vaccinate all senior citizens in the first half of the year and to provide vaccines to 630,000 eligible citizens.
Taguig opened two more vaccination sites in Maharlika Elementary School in Brgy. Maharlika and EM's Signal Village Elementary School in Brgy. Central Signal last April 7.
These are the fourth and fifth vaccination sites in addition to the existing Mega Vaccination Hubs at the Lakeshore area in Brgy. Lower Bicutan and Vista Mall Parking Building in Brgy. Calzada, and the first community vaccination center in RP Cruz Elementary School in Brgy. New Lower Bicutan.
The city started on March 31 the vaccination of those belonging to categories A2, or senior citizens, and A3, or non-senior adults with comorbidities, and started giving the second dose to the A1 group, or medical frontliners.
Taguig expects its orders of COVID-19 vaccines from AstraZeneca, Covovax, Covaxin, and Moderna to arrive by the third quarter of the year.
“Vaccination is one of the main components to contain the virus and move forward to the new normal. Despite the case surges and being under the ECQ guideline, Taguig is pushing all its efforts to strengthen our science-based and expert-approved initiatives,” said Mayor Lino Cayetano.
