Taguig Mayor Cayetano gets Sinovac jab

Taguig Mayor Lino Cayetano was vaccinated on April 5 with the Sinovac Life Science’s CoronaVac vaccine against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

“Today, I received the first dose of the Sinovac vaccine together with other A1.5 government frontliners, senior citizens, and adults with comorbidities,” he said in a statement.

Under Taguig’s priority list for vaccination, the A1.5 group includes “government-owned primary care based facilities such as Urban Health Centers, Rural Health Units and Barangay Health Stations, birthing homes, and Local Health Offices (P/C/MHO) to include members of BHERTS , contact tracers, and social workers.”

Cayetano’s vaccine was administered by Dr. Cecille Montales, the city’s cluster head for health, at Taguig’s Lakeshore Vaccination Hub.

He urged Taguig residents “to register through Taguig Registry for Access and Citizen Engagement (TRACE) to secure your vaccination.”

“While supplies from the national government continue to come in, we are expecting our orders of AstraZeneca, Covovax, Covaxin, and Moderna to arrive by the third quarter of the year. This will help the city in achieving its aim of fully inoculating the Taguig citizenry,” he said.

Cayetano added that “vaccination is an important component of the Prevent-Detect-Isolate-Treat-Reintegrate strategy. We must continue to work together as we transition to the new normal.”

On April 4, Taguig’s active COVID-19 cases jumped to 420 from 243 on April 3, or an increase of 177 cases (72.8 percent). The city has 15,398 confirmed cases including 14,793 recoveries and 185 deaths.
