Patricia Santos on designing Jessy Mendiola's wedding dress

Sometimes, the simplest dress makes the greatest impact.

On Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021, actors Jessy Mendiola and Luis Manzano made their married life official. Through a series of Instagram posts and a YouTube video, the couple took us on a sneak peek on the most important day of their lives. Seeing the social media posts, we couldn't help but gush about Jessy's wedding gown.

The rise of intimate weddings in our pandemic time changes the way brides want to look when they walk down the aisle—opting for a more simple silhouette with minimal details that reflect their personality. With the help of stylist Patty Yap, Jessy is a true vision of a modern bride with her wedding dress that perfectly fits her garden-themed ceremony.

According to the designer of the wedding dress, Patricia Santos Yao, the look that they were going for is an effortless, timeless bridal look. "We designed a simple dress with billowing sleeves to make it romantic," the designer says. "The square neckline and the pleated skirt are for a modern touch." Completing the look was a pair of white custom-made Jefferson Si open-toed sandals and an ethereal updo hairstyle adorned with tiny blooms.

More than just a fashion designer, Patricia has been good friends with Jessy for years since she started working with the actress for the Star Magic Ball. "What I love about her is her kindness," Patricia tells Manila Bulletin Lifestyle. "She’s one of the celebrities that’s very easy to work with, beautiful inside and out. The dress really suits her. Classic and elegant."

We couldn't agree more to that. Jessy looked beautiful on her wedding day!
