Are you ready? Labor Day job fair vacancies balloon to over 52,000

The total vacancies in the Department of Labor and Employment's (DOLE) much-hyped Labor Day online job fair has now ballooned to over 52,000.

"Pangungunahan po ni Secretary Bello ang pagbubukas ng nationwide, simultaneous job fair na mayroon na po, as of 12 noon ngayong araw, ay umabot na po ng 52,461 vacancies involving 665 employers (Secretary Bello will lead the opening of the nationwide, simultaneous job fair, which, as of 12 noon today, already has 52,461 vacancies involving 665 employers)," DOLE Director Rolly Francia revealed in virtual press briefing Friday, April 30.

It was only last Wednesday, April 28, when DOLE boasted having 44,125 available jobs from 578 employers for the May 1 event.

Bello earlier commented that the country's employment prospects were good, as evidenced by the numerous job openings.

Jobstreet, Jobquest, Workbank, Vantagehunt.com, Zoom, and Mynimo were listed as the participating online platforms. All the platforms have scheduled multiple events to cater to jobhunters from all regions of the country.

Regions V and X already began their job fair Friday, based on information shared by Francia to DOLE reporters. The job fairs of several regions (I, II, III, Calabarzon, V, VIII, X,) will last for multiple days.

Of the 52,461 jobs up for grabs, 7,737 of these are based overseas. The top overseas destinations are the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom, Germany, and Qatar.

DOLE figures show that the top local vacancies are for 1. customer service representative; 2. production operator, factory worker; 3. police officer, contact tracer; 4. sewer; and 5. mason, carpenter, re-barman.

Meanwhile, the top overseas vacancies are for 1. nurse; 2. factory worker; 3. mechanic; 4. nursing aide, healthcare assistant; and 5. cleaners.
