CBCP-ECMI official: Let us include India in our prayers


An official of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines Episcopal Commission on the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant People (CBCP-ECMI) has asked the faithful to include India, which is experiencing a surge in coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases, in their prayers.

CBCP-ECMI Vice Chairperson Bishop Ruperto Santos also called for the inclusion of India in Mass prayer intentions.

"Let us always remember and include India in our prayers and Holy Masses, that with the rest of world, this COVID-19 pandemic will end and healing will come to all of us," he said in a statement Thursday, April 29.

"As one humanity all of us must work as one to bring hope and help to all, and all of us must beg our almighty God to lead us to safety, sound health and success in combatting this coronavirus," added Santos.

The Balanga, Bataan prelate said with what is happening in India, people should take seriously the health protocols.

"Let us here in our country, be more serious and be stricter to implement and follow the Inter Agency Task Force protocols. Let us do what is most necessary to prevent the spread of virus, to protect and help one another from this COVID-19 pandemic," Santos said.

India is currently experiencing the world's worst COVID-19 outbreak. This week it recorded 352,991 new cases,the highest single-day figure globally.
