Duque says nearly half of 6K new COVID-19 cases came from NCR

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said of the more than 6,000 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the country, nearly 3,000 came from the National Capital Region.

In a meeting with President Duterte on Wednesday, April 28, Duque said 2,963 of the cases came from NCR, 1,478 from Calabarzon and 866 from Central Luzon.

He said of the 1,020,495 total cases, 67,769 were active cases.

"Almost half of this from NCR with 450,892 cases and 27,891 are active cases," said Duque.

He said although the country is already seeing a decrease in cases, most of the cases are still in NCR, Calabarzon and Central Luzon.

The two-week growth rate in NCR, Duque said, also improved which is currently at negative 15 percent.

He said the average daily attack rate in the region remained high at 31.01 per 100,000 population.

Duque also revealed that the ICU utilization rate in NCR also decreased from 84 percent to 69 percent.

"We are now at moderate risk level and developed our health systems capacity," he said.
