Muntinlupa opens major COVID-19 vaccination hub at SM Center in Tunasan

The Muntinlupa City government on Tuesday opened its second major vaccination hub at SM Center Muntinlupa in Brgy. Tunasan to serve more residents.

Located at the SM Center Muntinlupa open parking area, the vaccination hub is for senior citizens, or those belonging to the A2 priority group, and persons with comorbidities, or A3.

Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi graced the launching of the vaccination hub together with City Administrator Allan Cachuela, City Councilors Allan Camilon and Ryan Bagatsing, and SM Center officers.

SM Supermalls has begun its multi-mall vaccination drive in partnership with various local government units (LGUs) nationwide to be the venue for their COVID-19 vaccination program.

The SM Center vaccination hub can accommodate up to 500 residents from Brgys. Tunasan and Poblacion per schedule. Residents in the A2 and A3 categories will receive text messages on their assigned schedule. Additional major vaccination hubs in other malls in Muntinlupa will be opened in the coming weeks.

Last April 24, the city government opened its first major vaccination hub at Ayala Malls South Park in Alabang. To date, 216 residents were inoculated on the first day of operations.

In addition, community vaccination sites in barangays will continue to accommodate other residents from different priority groups.

According to the Muntinlupa City Health Office, 21,425 residents have been vaccinated against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) as of April 24. Of the total, 17,261 were inoculated with Sinovac Life Science’s CoronaVac vaccine, while 4,164 were given AstraZeneca.

Muntinlupa City Mayor Jaime Fresnedi, 70, received his first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine last April 8.

Fresnedi appealed to residents to register and avail of the city’s vaccination program for them to have added protection against COVID-19.

“Hinihikayat ko po ang lahat ng Muntinlupeño na magpabakuna dahil bakuna ang solusyon sa pandemya. Kung gusto natin na bumalik sa normal ang buhay, protektado ang ating pamilya, at ligtas ang lahat, magparehistro na at magpabakuna (I urge all residents to get vaccinated because this is the solution to the pandemic. If we want to go back to our normal lives and protect our family and ensure that everyone is safe, register and get vaccinated),” the mayor said.

For registration, Muntinlupa residents may sign up at www.vaccine.muntinlupacity.gov.ph/muncovac.

As of April 26, Muntinlupa recorded a total of 10,754 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 1,442 of which are active, 9,032 recoveries, and 280 deaths.
