Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup (MSC) returns with P7.2 million prize pool, online format

Filipino professional Mobile Legends: Bang Bang players will have a new arena to conquer as game developer Moonton announced the return to of the MLBB Southeast Asia Cup (MSC) with a $150,000 (over P7.2 million) prize pool this year. 

Twelve teams from the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos will vie for the title in the prestigious regional tournament that will be held from June 7-13. 

After getting postponed last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the MSC will make its huge comeback, although it will be held online for the first time due to travel restrictions and health threats posed by the virus. 

"We are excited to bring MSC back this year to reunite Southeast Asian fans and support their national teams with pride," said Han Ziwei, head of MSC, MOONTON Games in a statement. 

"We will continue to work closely with our partners to bring exhilarating experiences to our community and re-enact certain activities offline," he added. 

Moonton has yet to announce the participating teams, groupings and playoffs format, but fans can follow the updates through the tournament's official website.

Besides the tournament itself, Moonton will also bring back memories as it will invite old or retired ML pro players as special guests exclusively for MSC. 

Classic time-limited skins will be available as well from May 29 to June 13 through the MSC in-game activities and the "Double Event". 

In the second of edition of the MSC last 2018 held in Jakarta, Indonesia, MPL Philippines Season 1 champion Aether Main (now Bren Esports) emerged victorious over nine other teams. 

Onic Esports of Indonesia ruled the latest edition in 2019 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum while IDNS of Thailand won the inaugural iteration in 2017 in Jakarta.
