DepEd students receive free connectivity solutions from Globe, APC

A total of 171 students from three public schools under the Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of Pasay City benefited from the free connectivity solutions as a result of the collaboration between Asia Pacific College (APC) and Globe Telecom.

Through DepEd’s Joint Delivery Voucher Program (JDVP), senior high school students attending Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) courses received Globe Prepaid Internet Kits and Load Up (SchoolSURF and EnterpriseSURF) Plans.

Globe Business Senior Vice President Peter Maquera said that in line with the company’s objective to contribute to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, “we make it a priority to assist schools in providing Filipino students with quality education.”

Maquera added that partnering with APC in DepEd’s program allows Globe to “leverage our solutions to help public school students become business leaders and ICT professionals in the future.”

By supporting the DepEd’s JDVP-TVL, Maquera said that “we’re able to grant them access to educators, learning content, and online resources, anytime and anywhere.”

The JDVP-TVL of DepEd, also known as the Joint Delivery Voucher Program for Senior High School Technical-Vocational-Livelihood Specializations, is able to implement its programs through partnerships with different institutions.

APC, which has been a JDVP-TVL participant since 2018, has been teaching students ICT specialization subjects such as JAVA programming and animation.

Through Globe Connectivity Solutions, the schools were able to monitor classes and their students’ performance.

APC was also able to provide both students and teachers online academic support such as counseling, library access, document request services, and more.

“What was supplied to students during JDVP, for two months, was not only connectivity through the Wi-Fi kits, but also the freedom to learn,” said Asia Pacific College President Dr. Tata Pastor Medado.

“We gave them the freedom to explore the power of technology and use that power to drive innovative projects,” Medado said. “Every student participant had equal access to course content, tools, data, and unrestricted access to their teammates and mentors,” he added.

With flexible learning becoming the standard in the delivery of education amid the pandemic, Globe said it will continue to work with the likes of APC in “recreating the way students learn.”

By bridging schools with its connectivity, learning management, collaboration, and communication tools, Globe expressed optimism that “more students and teachers are able to pursue their learning objectives and overcome roadblocks caused by the pandemic.”
