De Lima discharged from hospital after 3-day medical leave
Opposition Senator Leila de Lima was discharged from the Manila Doctors Hospital on Tuesday morning, April 27, after a three-day medical furlough.

De Lima, who has been detained at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center, had earlier complained of headaches and weakness during her last check up on April 21 and was rushed to the hospital.
The senator tested negative for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) but had to undergo brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and blood chemistry at the hospital. She was last admitted at the same hospital in February for a routine medical examination.
Dr. Dante Morales and Dr. Errol Santelices said the result of the senator’s BMRI and CT angiography showed no evidence of stroke. De Lima, they said, could have suffered vertigo due to the hot environment and poor ventilation inside her detention cell.
Vertigo has been an existing long-standing health condition of the senator, but the doctors said there were no other serious adverse findings in the diagnostic tests conducted on her brain, eyes, ears, nerves, heart, kidneys, and thyroid, among others.
Though she has already been discharged from the hospital, the doctors stressed the need for the lawmaker’s blood pressure and sugar level to be regularly monitored. The senator was also advised to avoid stress.
Following her recovery, De Lima thanked her supporters for their prayers and the messages she has received while she was confined in the hospital.
She also thanked the PNP authorities led by Brig. Gen. Arthur Bisnar, of the PNP Headquarters Support Service (HSS) for their professionalism and sincerity in complying with the court order on her immediate furlough, as well as the physicians, nurses and staffs of Manila Doctors Hospital.
