15 more overseas Filipinos died of COVID-19 — DFA


Fifteen more overseas Filipinos died of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) while 17 others have tested positive for the disease, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Tuesday.

In addition, the DFA report said 26 overseas Filipinos have recovered or discharged from health facilities.

Since the outbreak began in February last year, the DFA has recorded a total of 18,270 COVID-19 cases involving overseas Filipinos. Of this total, 11,220 have recovered, 5,909 are undergoing treatment and 1,141 died due to coronavirus infections.

To date, the total number of countries and territories with confirmed cases among Filipinos abroad remains at 93.

The Middle East and Africa remain as the region with the most number in all categories, namely, in the total number of cases (10,442); recoveries (5,893); under treatment (3,802), and deaths (747).
