PCSO releases P34 million for medical aid, assistance to over 5,000 indigents
A total of 5,082 eligible indigent beneficiaries across the country received medical assistance from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).

PCSO General Manager Royina Garma, in a statement issued April 25, said more than P34 million assistance was given to beneficiaries from April 19 to 23 through the Medical Access Program (MAP).
Formerly known as the Individual Medical Assistance Program (IMAP), MAP is “designed to augment the medical assistance intended for indigent Filipinos, particularly for hospital confinement, chemotherapy, dialysis, and post-transplant medicines.”
In the National Capital Region (NCR), PCSO said that there were 717 beneficiaries who received P6.7 million as medical assistance.
Meanwhile, there were 1,289 individuals in Northern and Central Luzon who received a total of P8.9 million in assistance.
In the Southern Tagalog and Bicol Regions, 1,284 indigents received P6.9 million.
The PCSO said that a total of 952 individuals were given P6.1 million in medical aid in the Visayas area.
In Mindanao, P5.6 million were released to 840 individuals who need medical assistance.
Garma assured that PCSO continues to “find ways to meet the medical and health-related needs of all Filipinos, especially the marginalized.” MAP is funded by revenues from PCSO games nationwide.
PCSO’s operations have been affected by the ongoing coronavirus disease (COVID-19) situation in the country.
Selling of lotto tickets and other digit games – including the conduct of Small Town Lottery (STL) draws – has been suspended from April 12 to 30, 2021 in areas under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ).

Despite this, the agency assured that it will continue to provide medical assistance especially with the surge of indigents who seek help amid the COVID-19 situation in the country.
