Gun-running syndicate involved in credit card cloning busted in Las Piñas
A tip from a Chinese led the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) to bust a gun-running syndicate composed of two South Koreans and their two alleged Filipino cohorts during a buy-bust in Las Piñas City.
CIDG director Maj. Gen. Albert Ignatius Ferro said the operation also resulted in the confiscation of two handguns and two assault rifles being sold by the suspects.
Ferro said his men mapped out an operation after they were tipped that there was a group which was selling him guns through online transaction. The suspects would reportedly encourage the use of credit card, the move is to get the details for credit card cloning purpose.
The entrapment was carried out in a subdivision in Las Piñas City over the weekend.
He identified the arrested suspects as Han Bao, 26; Hu Zhi, 29; Tomas Adonis, 39; and, Patrick Rowan, 36.
Seized from them were a 9mm rifle, a 5.56 Spikes Tactical Apopka, a .38 revolver, a .45 pistol, a silencer for 9mm rifle and several bullets. The CIDG operatives also confiscated a skimming device, assorted Chinese credit cards, a laptop and other gadgets for credit card cloning.

“We shall continue to remove from the streets illegal firearms and its peddlers. These are obvious threats to our communities’ safety. We encourage our citizens to report such transactions and illegal activities to the CIDG,” said Ferro.
