Pixar’s “Soul” bagged the best animated feature award at this year's Oscars.
The contemplative comedy-drama beat other nominees "Onward," "Over the Moon," "A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon," and "Wolfwalkers."
“Soul” is close to the heart of Filipinos as two Pinoy crew members were part of the animated film project.
American-Filipino Paul Abadilla is the animated film’s sets art director, while Canadian-Filipino Trevor Jimenez worked as the story supervisor.
“Soul,” directed by Peter Docter, tells the story of Joe (voiced by Jamie Foxx), a middle school band teacher, who seeks to reunite his soul and his body after they are accidentally separated, just before his big break as a jazz musician.
The computer-animated film also won best animated feature film and best original score awards at the 2021 Golden Globes.
