With many hospitals still overwhelmed, the government is looking to provide "home care packages" to COVID-19 patients.

"This is part of our efforts to be able to redirect patients and prevent them from going straight to the hospitals, for patients, who are panicking or having this kind of fear when they stay at home because they have mild case or asymptomatic case,” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in a virtual forum Monday, April 26.
She said the home care kit will include preventive equipment like masks, alcohol or sanitizers, face shield, as well as common disinfection supplies, like bleach or cleaning materials.
"We will be providing home monitoring kits like thermometer, pulse oximeters, if it would be feasible based on the budget that we have," said Vergeire.
"This will be a complete package with vitamins supplement and paracetamol and other common medications," she added.
Information materials, such as the telemedicine and triaging services of the local and national government will also be included.
"This is not really just about the kits but it’s also the system, the process that goes with it because when we say home care package, we will have financing mechanism for that. That’s why we’re negotiating with the Philhealth,” Vergeire said.
